Top Inventions Of All Time

I would like to end the year 2010 by listing all the Top Inventions of All Time and take this opportunity to thanks all those people responsible to all of these inventions that changed the world ever!

The 1903 Wright Flyer, designed by the Wright Brothers, hangs in the entrance hall of the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. This first airplane could be piloted by lying down on your belly and moving your hips to move the rudder. What a difference a century makes!

Ice Ice Baby. The first working air conditioner was invented in 1902 by Willis Carrier. The concept had been around for ages, using mostly natural solution. But it was Carrier who used the 19th century advances in chemistry to create this modern masterpiece.

“A B C, it’s easy as 123!” Our alphabet today was taken from the Greek alphabet. However, the origins are much older, as is the concept of an alphabet. The word/concept was probably taken from the Ancient Egyptians anywhere from 1500-1700 B.C.

Aspirin was invented in Germany by Felix Hoffman and was first distributed in powder form in 1987. For all those nasty headaches, backaches, frontaches, and aches of all kinds: thank you, Felix Hoffman.

Germany has done it again! Gottlieb Daimler invented the automobile in 1889. This version is a little more modern than the original.

Beer was created before 6,000 B.C. by the Sumerians and Babylonians in Mesopotamia. Or, more likely, beer was created by the Sumerian and Babylonian college kids…while on spring break.

Our “modern” calendar was invented in 1582 by Pope Gregory the XIII. That's why its called Gregorian Calendar.

The camcorder was invented by Sony Corp in Japan in 1982, but the portable photographic camera was invented in 1888 by George Eastman of the U.S.

The Electronic Digital Computer came into being in 1939 having been created by John V. Atanasoff and Clifford E. Berry of the U.S. However, the personal computer didn’t come out until 1974 and the laptop wasn’t around until 1983.

The Digital Videodisc was only invented a little over ten years ago, and yet DVD’s are everywhere; having virtually replaced the video cassette tape

The laser was invented in 1958 by two American inventors named Gordon Gould and Charles Townes. Now, however it is used for everything from surgery to decoration.

Illumination. Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in 1879. There were, though, about 22 different inventors of the original incandescent light bulb or lamp before Edison perfected his version which won acclaim for its effectiveness and usability

Does simplicity make an invention less valuable? I certainly hope not, or the pencil wouldn’t be around. Although it is shown here on a model, the pencil is more commonly used for writing, as Conrad Gesner, of Switzerland discovered in 1565.

Guglielmo Marconi had a good idea in 1896 when he came up with the first radio.

We’re back with the Sumerians again as they invented the wheel about 3500 B.C. Whether it’s a Ferris wheel or the wheel of your car – we have them to thank for this early invention.

We’d like to tell you that the Internet was invented by a little guy: some up-and-comer who was right on the edge of breakdown…until he came up with the idea for the internet. We’d like to tell you that. In reality, the Internet was invented by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) at the Dept. of Defense in the U.S.
